Where is Lake Mutanda located, and how to access there?

Lake Mutanda is located in southern Uganda, close to the Rwandan border. It is located in the Virunga Mountains in the Kisoro District of Uganda. The lake is set within the breathtaking scenery of the Albertine Rift, part of the Great Rift Valley system. Because of its closeness to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, it is a popular site for travelers visiting the region for gorilla trekking and other animal adventures.

Lake Mutanda is roughly a 30-minute drive from Kisoro town. Python Island is another curious island on Lake Mutanda. This place is home to python snakes. Only daring people may get access to this island in order to observe the local snakes, albeit pythons are rarely sighted.
