Do Canadians require a visa to Uganda?

Yes. Passport holders from Canada must obtain a visa in order to travel to and enter Uganda. This is due to the fact that Canada is not in the visa-free country lists of Uganda. Canadian nationals can apply for a visa to enter Uganda through one of the following processes:

  • For short-term travels or transit through Uganda for tourism purposes, Canadian travelers can submit an online visa application. Along with being the location of the wild animals, Uganda is a popular destination among Canadian tourists because of its various types of mammals and primates, especially mountain gorillas.
  • At the Uganda Embassy in Canada, submit an application for a normal visa.
  • Obtain a visa upon arrival at a border crossing or airport.

For short trips to Uganda, applying for an e-visa online is usually the most practical option for Canadian travelers. The Uganda Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced the electronic visa to promote the economic and tourist sector, moreover, speed up the visa application procedure instead of getting one at the Uganda Immigration Department.

It is true that the electronic visa policy makes it simpler and quicker for Canadian people to obtain a visa for Uganda. After submitting the necessary paperwork and visa application forms, Canadian applicants often obtain their visas in no more than three business days.
